The GCD has operated since 1994 without a financial "safety net" and have relied on a single resource to host and maintain the online service. We've grown a lot over the years in terms of traffic and to help keep things up we need to have a financing plan. In July 2006 we added a small row of non-intrusive Google ads to the site to make use of the high number of monthly page views. Your continued use of the GCD will earn us a few cents, especially if you visit one of the advertisers, hopefully adding up to enough to ease on operating costs.

The GCD is a non-profit organization in Norway and a non-profit 501(c) corporation in the United States.  Contributions from people paying taxes in the States are tax-deductible.  If you have any questions about this, please email us at GCD Donations and we'll do our best to answer.  (From an email to the message lists in April 2007: "The Board has unanimously voted to create an incorporated, non-profit Grand Comicbook Database Foundation. Said incorporation will take place in Little Rock, Pulaski County, State of Arkansas in the United States of America under the applicable state and federal laws. The Foundation will exist for the purpose of supporting the Grand Comicbook Database Project and to support the scholarly study of comic books arts and for such purposes as further that mission. The board of directors of the Foundation will consist of the membership of the Board of Directors of the Grand Comicbook Database Project with the officers being preserved between the groups. Further, the board will empower Tony Rose to file the necessary forms to further the incorporation and that Mr. Rose will proceed with alacrity once empowered.  We learned today from Tony that he has received the certification of the incorporation of The Grand Comicbook Database Foundation. So we are now officially incorporated. From here we are discussing what steps need to be taken to receive non-profit, tax-exempt status."

Why the ads?

The GCD has operated since 1994 without a financial "safety net" and have relied on a single resource to host and maintain the online service. We've grown a lot over the years in terms of traffic and to help keep things up we need to have a financing plan. In July 2006 we added a small row of non-intrusive Google ads to the site to make use of the high number of monthly page views. Your continued use of the GCD will earn us a few cents, especially if you visit one of the advertisers, hopefully adding up to enough to ease on operating costs.

How do I donate?

Additionally, we've added ways to donate once or by subscription (see below). The GCD online resource will remain free for use, but if you choose to donate we're very thankful for your support. We have set high aims for this project and we hope we will be able to accomplish it one day.

Note! Please note that you are NOT subscribing to the GCD itself. The GCD is free for use online and a donation is not a kind of membership or any other affiliation with the core project. At present, donation subscription is a recurring way of contributing to keep the site up and running. It does not entitle the donor to rights or priveleges. It is merely an acknowledgement of the expenses incurred by our technical staff.

Donations are accepted from most countries via PayPal. One-time donation If you have a PayPal accout or a major credit card you can donate to our PayPal account. Click the button below to get started:
