Some publishers use structured code numbers on the cover or in the indicia. These were stored as issue number or in the notes field.

Similar to the catalog numbers associated with mass market comics paperbacks, these are stored separately, where we record the code number and the type of code number.

Examples besides the catalog numbers are
Dell/Western eight-digit codes (e.g. 01-879-207, 01-078-209)
Carlsen codes (07048726, 07018834), where the first two are the print run, the next four the publication data and the last two encode the printer.

The listed examples will be added as type of code number from the start, where additional type of code numbers can be added afterwards by policy decisions.

The Publisher Code Number flag is set at the series level.
The Publisher Code Number is recorded at the issue level.
