Variant Cover Status

We record the status of the variant cover in its own field.

  1. No Difference: variant with cover artwork and cover image identical to base.
  2. Only Scan Difference: variant with different cover image, but cover artwork identical to base. The differences in the cover images are typically Prices, UPC numbers or lack thereof, distribution marks such as Newsstand or Whitman, or similar changes to items other than the cover artwork.
  3. Artwork Difference: variant with cover artwork different than base. Here, the cover artwork is different, which in addition to its own scan also need its own sequence, as the credits, characters, etc. can be different.
