- The Surrogate checkbox should be checked if the Indicia Publisher is identified as a surrogate publisher.
- A surrogate publisher is one which publishes product for another publisher in name only, generally during a time of paper restrictions (i.e., World War II). The surrogate is usually listed as the publisher of record in the indicia, though the other publisher was responsible for the financing, production, printing, and distribution of the product.
