I recently got a Canadian HAUNT OF FEAR, numbered 18 on the cover (although the letters page, which I assume is the same as an American issue, and says that "this issue is number 4", even though "the last issue was number 17". So I guess in Canada that change didn't occur at this point?
Also, unless I was looking at incorrect information, this issue has different stories than the American HAUNT OF FEAR #4. This issue contains -

no cover pictured, but mentions it is by Johnny Craig, so it could be the same as the US version

Probably Elhil or Alval as the publisher (though also possibly Bell... they all seem related). Seller says "Generally the story titles tell the story of UNTAMED LOVE #1. "I Was More Than A Secretary", "Weekend of Remorse", "Man Trap", and "My Life Of Lies" sum up the agony and ecstasy of 1950's Romance Comics perfectly.
(NB--The Canadian Version has the same story contents and cover as the U.S. version. The difference is that there is a Hockey magazine ad (do tell!) and the inside covers have Canadian ads)"
Cover is the same as the cover of issue 1 of the American series and seller says it's by Bill Ward.

Cover is reprint of issue 12 (front and back). Indicia is shown and hard to read but definitely from Wilson and almost definitely also issue 12. Cover doesn't have number on it. Date given in auction as Dec-Jan 1950. Inside front cover blank. First story is Tarzan and the Price of Peace. Last page shown only has half a page of artwork. Appears to be two boys and a canoe (6 panels)... suspect it is Two Against the Jungle, the last story in the original. Rest of last page and inside back cover are blank. Back cover is African warrior "A Dahoman(?) Warrior of West Africa".

Li'l Abner 89 - publisher not mentioned in eBay auction but we already have issues listed as Super. Same cover as American Toby series Also issue 83 - publisher not mentioned. Same cover as American Toby series. Ebay auctioner mentions that both are 36 pages.
Our Gang with Tom and Jerry #47 - listed by MileHigh on eBay as published by Dell, but probably actually from Wilson. Same cover as american Dell series #47
Archie Comics #34 - Bell Features - cover matches issue #35 of the american series. Archie Comics #37 - Bell Features - cover matched same issue of american series.
Journey into Unknown Worlds #36 - Bell Features. - cover matches issue 36 of 1950 series.
Kerry Drake Detective Cases #11 from Super Publications (CGC graded issue seen on eBay with publisher shown on card at top). Cover matches issue #11 of american series
Ranger Trails #21 - eBay auction says "So borrowing or trading for the book ( I don't remember which) I compared the two comics. Except for the cover these are absolutely the same...it has all the US ads. So This is Definitely Gunhawk #13." doesn't mention publisher specifically, assumed to be Bell.
Ranger Trails #15 - front and back cover shown in eBay auction. Back cover has generic Bell indicia.

Hi-Comics #11 - "This listing is for a copy of Hi-Comics 11, no date in indica. Indicia states only "Bell Features and Publishing". This is a Canadian comic that I cannot find in the overstreet guide. It contains stories originally printed in Timely / Atlas books.
Inside front cover: Doodleberries The Other Woman (5665) Girl Comics #?? (in upper right, number illegible) Love Is Where the Heart Is (5367) Death Be My Destiny (5402) No Escape (5795)"
Looks like a partial reprint of Girl Comics #1 - http://www.comics.org/issue/202853/ Doodleberries is, I believe, original to the Canadian version. Cover does not match US comic.
Young Romance - currently have Canadian series as published by Derby, but I think that must have been a guess. Indicia of issue 10 seen on eBay, states Publications Services Limited (73 Adelaide Street, West, Toronto, Ontario). Also indicia of issue 10 states just "10" as does cover. Auction states v2 #4, but this doesn't appear to be from book at all. Front Cover matches cover of US edition of #10. Back cover is ad for "Al Capps Shmoo Pen" from M.D.L. Book Company at 347/A Yonge Street, Toronto [347 Yonge Street later became Sam the Record Man!]
Western Outlaws and Sheriffs #70 - already have some info filled out from ebay auction. Cover matches american version of #70 and according to atlastales, the contents match as well (except for blank inside covers)
Western Hero #72 for Anglo-American. Scan of front and back cover seen on eBay. Cover matches Real Western Hero from Fawcett #72, but logo is without the "real"
Tex Morgan series by Superior - issue 8 seen on eBay, same cover as issue 8 of the Marvel series
- 1 also seen. same cover as issue 1 of the Marvel series. Issue number on cover is gone and date of "aug" has been replaced by "september"
Gunsmoke series from Export Publishing - issue #3 seen on eBay. Same cover as issue 3 of Youthful series. Back cover shown with indicia. No issue number given. "published in Canada by Export Publishing Enterprises, Ltd., 290 Birmingham Road, New Toronto, Ontario". back cover also has a 6 panel black and white illustrated story on Louis Pasteur sponsored by Antepane (a pain medication).
Jumbo Comics #165 from Superior. We have 3 issues by Publication Services, but I think this is a different series (as those are numbered 1,2,3). Cover matches #165 of Fiction House series (US). Also issue #158 from Superior. Cover matches #158 of US series.
Nyoka the Jungle Girl #17 by Anglo-American. Cover matches issue #17 of Fawcett series. Back cover is black and white ad for Glo-crests from Anglo-American
Kilroys, The #21 - by Export Publishing (CGC Copy seen on Ebay) - same cover as issue 21 of American Comics Group series. Seller states "BACK COVER HAS A GREAT BEE HIVE HOCKEY PICTURE RING AD"
My True Love #65 - no Canadian publisher listed in ad. Seller says "This Canadian edition of FOX COMICS trashy MY TRUE LOVE #65 is the first issue in a run of five pre-code romance comics. As one can tell from the cover (with the blue haired babe falling out of her dress) the title was hardly reputable and definitely lowbrow. But as collectors know it is just those very flaws that elevate the collectibility (and price) of the books. MY TRUE LOVE was one of over twenty FOX ROMANCE titles that flooded the market in the late'40's and early'50's and have endured as beloved rubbish to today.
Calling MY TRUE LOVE #65 exploitation would be a compliment. In fact it was badly drawn, cheaply produced and thinly scripted (like all the FOX love comics were). As for those meager contents, the titles almost saved them and made the comic worthwhile. Check it out! "Almost A Party Girl", "I Hated The Man I Loved" and "He Didn't Offer Marraige" were provocative leads promising the readers an edgy dark side of sex filled love. In truth the ridiculous artwork could not begin to carry off those come-ons and actually diminished them. But don't forget that the stories had a couple of things going for them. The unabashed editorial staff at FOX probably insisted that there was some luridness needed to jack up the pages so the artists complied with an eye scratching catfight in a panel that looks exactly like the notorious catfight cover for CRIMES BY WOMEN #6, a scene that has a man throwing a smock into his lover's face, lingerie panels and a touch and go piece that borders on a presentation of date rape.
Regaerdless, and since the standard love comics were pretty sappy, comics as lurid and unintentionally funny as the FOX line of romance comics were refreshing and delicious.
NB--The Canadian edition is the same as the U.S. book with differences only in a number, maple leaf and "SDD" indicated on the cover. The BC and last ad page are Canadian. Stories are identical. "
Marvel Family - issue 35 to Anglo-American series - same cover as issue 35 of Fawcett series. Also issue 33 has same cover as issue 33 of Fawcett series.
Boy Comics - no Canadian publisher listed - issue 40. Same cover as issue 40 of US series
Georgie #28 - note that there is no "comics" on the cover. Publisher stated as Bell in the eBay auction. Also states "There is one 4-page CINDY story" Back cover (shown) is Miracle Skin Creme ad.
Roy Rogers Comics #12 - indicia shown on eBay says December 1948. Cover reprints issue 11 of the American series. Back cover is "Roy Rogers, star of Republic Pictures, with his daughters Cheryl and Linda Lou", with a photo of him reading a Roy Rogers comic (issue #6) to them on a stuffed chair.
Real Secrets [nn] is said to be a reprint of Real Secrets #5, however the later came out in 1950 and the former is copyrighted 1948. Possible copyright date is incorrect. Or they both use the same cover or something...
